Dr. Chad Bio

Dr. Chad McDonald attended medical school at Nova Southeastern College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed his Family Medicine residency program with Eastern Connecticut Health Network (ECHN). Dr. McDonald then became board certified in Family Medicine. He established a bustling outpatient medical practice in South Windsor, CT, and in 2017 Healthgrades.com awarded him a national and local "Top Ninety-Ninth Percentile" award for Family Medicine Physicians). After witnessing several loved ones suffer and die from addiction complications, Dr. McDonald became board certified in addiction medicine. He is currently practicing a hybrid of addiction and family medicine at multiple sites throughout the greater Hartford, CT, area. In addition to seeing his patients, Dr. McDonald now serves as the Chief Medical Officer at InterCommunity, a large, not-for-profit FQHC, wherein he extends his abilities to provide holistic, comprehensive healthcare and social work support at a healthcare system level. Chad has published multiple medical research papers, including "Crohn's Disease Diagnosis Following Discovery of In-Situ Follicular Lymphoma."


Additionally, he likes to think outside the box, enabling him to see the bigger picture of medical (and non-medical) problems. Chad also loves teaching and has served as a clinical instructor of family medicine and teaches medical students of the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine, APRN students from Quinnipiac, and resident physicians from his alma mater, Eastern Connecticut Health Network.


As the author of "Cut the Doctorspeak: A Crash Course in the 12 Most Common Medical Problems" (now in its Second Edition), he continues to share science and medical knowledge with anyone who will read or listen. He enjoys hiking, traveling, gardening, cooking, and spending time with his loved ones.
