Jennifer Bio

Jen Valva has worked as a clinician in various levels of care during her 20+ year career including outpatient methadone, inpatient psychiatry, ED crisis, outpatient individual, group, and IOP therapy, residential substance use treatment, and assessment & mobile crisis. She has also served as an adjunct social work instructor and field advisor, is the chair of the Ethics Committee for CT’s Certification Board and has been featured on the Scope of Practice podcast related to her integrating yoga and mindfulness practices in substance use treatment. Jen has championed InterCommunity’s I CAN Recover initiative as well as having provided trainings on the treatment of substance use disorders, applications of clinical interventions, Narcan administration, non-violent crisis intervention, creating workplace culture, and more. As the Vice President of Behavioral Health Services, Jen hopes to continue focusing on integration and collaboration across all agency programs. In her new role, she is excited to support InterCommunity in creating more clinical, peaceful, and professional environments that will best support clients in reaching their goals though positive systems and integrated care. She is also passionate about staff development and plans to continue to support all staff in identifying and attaining their professional goals. When Jen is not working, you will likely find her outside with her puppy, family, and friends, on the yoga mat, or in the gym.
