Ryan Bio

Ryan MacDonough started his career at InterCommunity as an ACT team community support specialist 19 years ago. Since that time, InterCommunity has grown tremendously with Ryan acting as both an advocate for change and a steadying force. A fierce believer in recovery, Ryan has championed a treatment philosophy of “doing with” rather than “doing for” clients. He also understands the importance of providing a consistent support who can decrease or increase involvement based on the client’s recovery needs. Although this approach is commonly understood today, Ryan was a lead voice in teaching this understanding across the state. In fact, he even caused DMHAS to redesign their state-wide care team and payment models for community supports to mirror IC’s practices. Ryan has been the champion of multiple IC initiatives including creating IC’s RESET, Behavioral Health Home, and 24/7 mobile crisis, and CBHC programs. With a passion for community-based care, Ryan has worked diligently to maximize IC’s relationships with local police, emergency departments, landlords, and DMHAS. As the Vice President of Community-Based Services, Ryan hopes to continue to teach and learn the “why” and the “how” behind recovery. Whether the person is recovering from mental health, substance use, or primary care issues, Ryan believes that all stories of, and routes to, recovery have of value. He looks forward to any opportunity to learn from staff and clients to help maximize recovery. When not at work, Ryan spends his time camping, playing yard games, and being outside with friends and family.
