InterCommunity Health Announces Three New Board Members

hstrycharz • September 5, 2018

InterCommunity Health, Inc. today announced the appointment of three new members to its Board of Directors. Joining the Board are Sasa Harriott, Dr. Steven Wolf, and Annan Yakubu.

“All three of our newest Board members bring a wealth of talent, expertise, and energy to the table. We are fortunate to have them by our side as we continue to strengthen and grow our community-based services” said Kimberly Beauregard, President & CEO of InterCommunity Health.

Sasa Harriott is the owner and Chief Executive Officer of Harriott Home Health Services based in Hartford. A licensed registered nurse, Ms. Harriott started her company with the goal of improving how health care is provided to community residents. “My mission is to provide culturally competent and relevant care and education for people with high risk medical and behavioral health needs,” she said. “If we fill the gaps, it will result in better outcomes.”

Ms. Harriott graduated from Jacksonville University with a bachelor’s degree in nursing. She was previously employed at St. Francis Hospital and the Behavioral Health Partnership. Her affiliation with InterCommunity Health began years ago when she began working with clients referred from InterCommunity. “I saw first-hand the great work that InterCommunity Health did, and I’ve watched the organization expand. I’m proud to be a member of the Board of Directors.”  Ms. Harriott also serves as a Foundation Board Member of St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center.

Dr. Steven Wolf is the Chairman of Emergency Medicine and the Director of the Emergency Department at St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center. Dr. Wolf stated that his personal involvement with InterCommunity Health increased when the Suboxone program began at St. Francis in 2017. “InterCommunity is one of our partners in this program. Many patients start off in the emergency department and when we do a warm hand-off to InterCommunity Health, it results in better coordination of care and improves the chances that patients will continue with treatment.”

Dr. Wolf added that serving on InterCommunity Health’s Board of Directors solidifies the strong relationship between the two organizations. “It’s a natural fit for me to serve on the Board. Together, we are better able to meet the needs of the community by expanding programs and improving processes.”

Annan Yakubu is a Certified Public Accountant with experience auditing nonprofit healthcare entities during his five-year tenure at CohnReznik, LLP. He currently works in Stratford at a consulting firm. Mr. Yakubu holds a master’s degree of science in accounting and taxation from the University of Hartford.

“Serving on the Board of Directors for InterCommunity Health will provide me with the opportunity to give back to the community,” said Mr. Yakubu. His other volunteer activities include helping the elderly and individuals with behavioral health challenges.
