InterCommunity’s Journey Forward

Just as the UConn Women Huskies showcased strength and perseverance in their championship-winning season, InterCommunity has demonstrated what it means to rise to the occasion—overcoming challenges and remaining steadfast in our mission to provide high-quality, compassionate healthcare for all.

In 2024, we reached several important milestones that reflect our continued growth and impact:

  • Improved Health Outcomes: Nearly 7,500 Uniformed Data System (UDS) patients benefited from our integrated approach to care, underscoring the effectiveness of our services and commitment to wellness.
  • Facility Expansion and Renovation: We completed significant renovations and expansions at several locations, including the $1.8 million transformation of our 40 Coventry Street site in Hartford. This investment increases access to care and enhances the patient's experience by offering same day care.
  • Unwavering Commitment to our Mission: In response to increasing federal scrutiny around DEI, we made the difficult decision to reevaluate and adjust some of our initiatives. These changes were necessary to safeguard our staff, patients, and long-term funding. Still, our values—respect, kindness, honesty, and compassion—continue to guide everything we do.
  • Fostering Unity and Communication: We launched Let’s Talk About It, a new initiative aimed at promoting open dialogue and a culture of listening across the agency. We also updated our communication policies and introduced email guidelines to support clarity and reinforce our commitment to transparency.
  • Celebrating a Milestone: Our ribbon-cutting ceremony at 40 Coventry Street, attended by U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal and Hartford Mayor Arunan Arulampalam, marked a major step forward in our ability to meet the community’s needs.
  • Financial Stability: Despite a challenging and ever-changing funding landscape, we remain financially stable. Our diverse revenue streams and strong advocacy efforts have allowed us to weather this period of uncertainty and stabilize our plans for the future.

None of this would be possible without our incredible staff. Your dedication, insights, and resilience continue to shape our work and our future.

We are, and always will be, a community rooted in care, resilience, and hope. Together, we continue to change the meaning of care—and caring.
