Black History is a time of reflection, that captures the past, present and future. The celebration of lives and accomplishments for those in the African American Community. The reminder of how far we have come, where we are today and how far we still must go. It is the dedicated time that allows everyone to remember, share and embrace the influence of their “Black” heritage and culture. It is a celebration bringing people together to understand, acknowledge and highlight the innovation, and multifacetedness of “Black Culture.” Black History is a reminder of the cultural phenomena created to celebrate the strength and heritage as well as evolution. It is the history of generation to generation passed down creating cultural heritage, generational bonds, and cultural recipes. A bond formed to highlight the diversity within the culture. It is the reminder “Black is beautiful” and the strength of struggle of oppression and prejudice and the celebration of rising above it all. Black History is breaking any prejudice and inequalities, while celebrating freedom and the communion of all coming together.
